Mindfulness Meets You Where You Are

 The Mindfulness Coaching Program

What is Mindfulness Coaching?

As we move through life, there’s often an area that needs a little more attention at some point. You may be moving through a difficult experience or need to make a change. And maybe the way you would normally handle it isn’t quite what’s needed this time.

This is where mindfulness can offer a different approach.

Mindfulness coaching brings the principles and practices of mindfulness into something you’re actively working with in your life. We start by getting clear on what you want to change or move toward, and then use mindfulness to help you approach it with more awareness and intention.

You could be moving through a major change, navigating a relationship, working toward a personal goal, or trying to make a decision without an obvious answer.

Or maybe nothing is necessarily wrong, but you know there’s an area of your life you want to approach with more intention.

Mindfulness coaching gives you a place to slow things down, see what’s happening with a little more clarity, and decide how you want to move forward.

Our work together is highly individualized around what you bring to coaching. We might explore:

  • Patterns that keep showing up
  • Where you tend to react rather than respond
  • Wider perspectives
  • What may be getting in the way of the change you want to make
  • What you’re holding onto - or trying to control
  • What you want to make more room for in your life

Mindfulness is the foundation. We’ll work with its principles and practices and apply them directly to what you’re working toward, along with intentional steps that make sense for your life.

You don’t need to come to coaching with a perfectly defined goal. You may simply know there’s something you’re ready to change, explore, or approach differently. We can start there.

Why Coaching?

THE COACHING DIFFERENCE

+ Coaching Creates Space to See What's Really Going On

It's hard to see our own patterns when we're right in the middle of them. Working with a mindfulness coach gives you a dedicated space to slow things down, talk honestly about what's happening, and create wider perspective.

+Awareness Helps You Know What to Do Next

Mindfulness isn't passive.  It's a process of seeing what's really present, which sometimes shows us change is necessary, whether it's internal or external. The path should feel natural coming from this place. Together, we explore what feels right, what feels difficult, and what action makes sense and feels intuitively sound.

+You Don't Have to Figure Everything Out

You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. In fact, part of the process is giving yourself the space to understand where you are now. We spend so much time resisting what feeling is already inside, trying to fix what's happening, or figure out what comes next that we don't always stop long enough to really see what's going on as a whole. Mindfulness gives us a different starting point: awareness. And from awareness, we can begin to make choices with more intention.

Mindfulness Meets You Where You Are is a four or eight-week coaching program that focuses on aligning your goals and taking action in a space of mindfulness.

Six Core Elements of the Program:

  • AWARENESS. Noticing what's really going on in life sometimes takes courage. Working together, we look at the overall picture and what you may be dealing with that is difficult. Nothing shifts without awareness.

    Asks: What’s really going on?
  • PATTERNS.We all have patterns that are hard to see when we're in the middle of them. What keeps happening here? What story am I telling myself? What do I automatically do when this happens? What might I be holding onto? Together, we begin noticing these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment, because once you can see what's happening, you have more choice in how you respond.

    Asks: What keeps happening?
  • SUSTAINABLE CHANGE. Once we understand what’s going on, we look at what you want to change and identify a realistic way to begin. This might mean making a decision, changing a habit, setting a boundary, having a conversation, or approaching a situation differently. We focus on changes that feel intentional and manageable in your actual life.

Asks: What am I going to do differently?

  • MINDFULNESS IN PRACTICE. Mindfulness can help us see a situation differently. Together, we’ll look at where you may be reacting automatically, getting caught in the stories your mind is telling you, or holding tightly to how you think something needs to be. We’ll work with practices like awareness, non-attachment, acceptance, and guided meditation to help create a little more space around what’s happening, so you can respond with more clarity and intention.

Asks: Can I relate differently to what is happening,  sometimes before the situation itself changes?
  • TRUST. Part of this work is learning to trust yourself a little more. Not every answer comes from thinking harder. We'll create space to listen to what you already know, notice what feels true for you, and become more comfortable moving forward without needing every part of life figured out.

Asks: What do I already know?
  • PERSPECTIVE. Mindfulness helps us step back and see beyond the immediate circumstances of what’s happening - and opens us to a bigger part of ourselves. We may begin to recognize difficult experiences with greater understanding understanding, compassion, and acceptance. From this wider perspective, things don’t always mean exactly what we first thought they did.  That's a big deal.  How we move through life changes when our perspective changes.

Asks:  What else might be true here?

Hi, I’m Erin.

I’m a certified mindfulness meditation teacher, yoga teacher, and spiritual life coach. I completed the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, and my approach is rooted in bringing these teachings into everyday life.

I believe mindfulness becomes most meaningful when we can actually use it - in our relationships, decisions, goals, reactions, and the changes we’re trying to make.

My coaching style is personal, practical, and conversational. I’ll meet you where you are, teach you the mindfulness practices that apply to what you’re working on, and help you put them into practice in your own life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a specific goal before I start?

No.  You may know exactly what you want to work toward, or you may simply know there’s an area of your life you’d like to change or approach differently. We can use our first session to get clear on what you want from our time together and begin.  Coaching unfolds in a very natural way and great progress is made because we are working with life.

Do I need experience with mindfulness or meditation?

Not at all. I’ll introduce the mindfulness teachings and practices that are relevant to what you’re working on and explain them in a practical, accessible way. You don’t need an existing meditation practice or any previous mindfulness experience.  If you have one, this is amazing! We will work to deepen and strengthen what already exists.

What kinds of goals can we work on?

Mindfulness coaching can support many kinds of personal change. You might be working toward a career or lifestyle change, creating healthier habits or boundaries, changing the way you approach a relationship, making space for something important to you, or working toward a personal goal that you’ve had trouble moving forward with.

The important part is that there’s something you want to work toward or uncover. We’ll use that as the direction for our coaching and bring mindfulness into how you approach it.

How is mindfulness coaching different from therapy?

Mindfulness coaching is focused on where you are now, what you want to work toward, and how mindfulness can support you as you make that change. Our sessions include coaching, mindfulness teaching, and practices you can apply to what you’re working on between sessions.

Coaching is not a replacement for therapy or mental health treatment. If what you’re looking for is support with a mental health condition, trauma, or something that requires clinical care, working with a licensed mental health professional may be more appropriate.

Should I choose 4 weeks or 8 weeks?

Four weeks is a good place to start when you have something specific you’d like to work on and want focused mindfulness coaching around it.

Eight weeks gives us more time to work with your goal as it unfolds, deepen the mindfulness teachings and practices, and make adjustments as you begin applying them in your life. The 8-week option also includes additional between-session support, a personalized guided meditation, and a Personal Mindfulness Guide created from our work together.

Still not sure? You’re welcome to schedule a complimentary 15-minute conversation and we can decide together which option makes the most sense.
